The discipline develops the ability to understand, think and critically analyze reference materials in the field of general linguistics, by: grasping fundamental concepts related to general linguistics in English; reading and watching texts, images, films, audio/video materials related to general linguistics in English; exploring research aspects in theoretical and applied linguistics in various institutional and economic contexts to raise awareness of the types of professions in the language industries and develop professional communication skills in preparation for the job market.
