Course Description
The discipline provides an overview of the world economy, analyzing the structure, components and interdependencies between national economies. It begins by addressing the methodologies used to study national economies and explores the differences and characteristics of developed and developing economies. Particular attention is given to transnational corporations, which play a crucial role in economic globalization and the integration of international markets. The discipline also examines the functions of international economic organizations, such as the IMF and the World Bank, as well as the International Monetary System, which support global economic stability and collaboration. In addition, international financial institutions and their impact on global economic development are explored. The course includes a case study of Romania’s economy, emphasizing its interconnectedness with the world economy and Romania’s role in international economic networks, thus providing an integrated perspective on global economic dynamics.
