Course Description

The discipline “Practical English 1” is designed to develop students’ knowledge and communication skills in the English language, with the aim of building fundamental skills for success in business, academic and professional contexts. It focuses on the acquisition of economic specific language and the improvement of communication skills in a professional setting. The overall objective of the course is to facilitate students’ understanding of complex economic language and to strengthen their lexical and grammatical knowledge. Among the specific objectives are the ability to interpret and discuss economic texts, to develop oral communication skills in group discussions, as well as to write and translate texts for professional purposes, covering topics such as marketing, international markets, diplomacy and social responsibility.
It also aims to strengthen critical analysis and argumentation skills through economic debates, to develop interdisciplinary research skills and to encourage autonomous learning integrated with effective teamwork. At the end of the course, students will have the capacity to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, in a variety of professional and academic situations. Through these competences, the discipline contributes to the development of specialists able to adapt and excel in international business environments, where professional communication and knowledge of specialized terminology are essential.
